Kaitlin and Caroline Take London

Last weekend Kaitlin and I ventured to London, while Charlotte celebrated her niece's 2nd birthday! We spent Saturday, Sunday, and Monday wandering around the city, enjoy ourselves, seeing so much, and killing our feet!

Saturday: A Rainy Day in London Town

It all started Saturday when we hopped on the train at 10:28 after grabbing coffee and a quick breakfast. We spent the train ride chatting and before we knew it we were in London. I have seen the London St. Pancras Station so many times, but for the first time I was able to venture into the city! We took the tube to the Pimlico Station and had a short walk to our flat for the weekend.

It rained all day, thank goodness we had umbrellas!

Travelling always makes us pretty tired...
Our his and her wardrobe!
After freshening up we headed back out into the town. Since it was raining all of Saturday we decided it would be a perfect time to visit a few museums. After seeing the Natural History and V&A Museum we walked around--window shopping and seeing Harrods all lit up!

Yummy ham and brie sandwich before our exploring

And a massive whale!

We stopped for dinner at a fabulous Italian Restaurant, where we both got two of the most fabulous pasta dishes I have ever had! It was so tasty!!

It was so so good!

Kaitlin and I walked a little more after dinner and then headed back to our flat for tea and some of our complimentary wine! We spent our night chatting, and then skyping our long lost friend, Charlotte (who missed us so so much).

Do you see the Christmas Tree??

Sunday: A Beautiful Day of Exploring

Kaitlin and I started off our Sunday by meeting a friend of her fathers for a light breakfast of tea and scones! And then we were off to Harrods to see everything that we couldn't afford, but it was so much fun browsing through all of the thousand+ pound dresses, coats, bags, shoes--they were all so nice!

The World of Christmas in Harrods

Part of the Princess Castle where little girls
were lined up to get there magic slippers...so cute!!

After Harrods we hopped on the Tube, got out at Green Park and headed toward Buckingham Palace. We found it surrounded by tourists, took a few pictures and then kept walking. We ended up walking all the way to Regent Street. We popped into a few stores (Hamely's, the coolest toy store, being one of them) and headed toward Oxford Street, where we continued with our shopping ventures.

Fun times in the Tube

Do you see Big Ben in the distance??
In Charleston the police have bikes, but
in London the police have horses

Regent Street and the well known red buses!

Hamley's - such a cool toy store!

Back to the Tube Station we went, we got off at Westminister and as we looked up, we were right under Big Ben. We took pictures of all the important places as we walked down the Embankment side of the Thames.

As we emerged from the Tube Station Big Ben was right over our heads

And then we saw the London Eye

I thought of Nanny and her love of OXO cubes
Saint Paul's Cathedral

After a stop to see Saint Paul's Cathedral, we grabbed tea, made dinner plans, and headed to a dinner of Chinese food in a very packed restaurant. The restaurant had wonderful food, but terrible service, so it was a nice meal with some very rude Chinese servers (but to be fair I have yet to experience the same degree of service that you get in America).

Priceless
Chicken Lettuce Wraps, always a favorite!

Monday: Goodbye London, See you Later!

Our last day in London started with 30 minutes on the London Eye, we got there before it opened and were able to be the first people of the day to go around the Eye! There were so many pretty sights to be seen, and it was the perfect time because it had just stopped raining.

The London Eye

After the Eye, Kaitlin and I went back to Oxford Street, before heading to the train station to get lunch before our afternoon train. On the trip back to Nottingham I played Sudoku, looked out the window, and listened to music, all while Kaitlin was taking a nap.

I've actually been studying abroad at Hogwarts

Kaitlin and I both really enjoyed our trip to London, it is easily my favorite city so far. It was nice not having a language barrier, being able to so easily use public transportation, and seeing such an amazing city!
